Beliefs

Below, you will find a summary statement of our beliefs as a community of Christ-followers. We also adhere to the early creeds of the church such as the Nicene Creed and Apostle’s Creed.

The Bible: We believe the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, are God-breathed and completely faithful as God’s word. They reveal His amazing plan for saving mankind and the Bible is to be the measuring stick for our beliefs and living out our life of faith.

God: We believe in one God who is Creator of all things and completely good and righteous. By reading and studying the whole of Scripture, we can see that God eternally exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ: We believe Jesus is both fully God and fully man, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He came to bring God’s kingdom rule and show us who the Father really is. He died on the cross so that we could be forgiven, made new and have a relationship with our Father. Jesus was buried but rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven and is now seated at the right hand of the Father reigning over all of heaven and earth.

Holy Spirit: We believe the Holy Spirit is a person and He has come to glorify Jesus, convict people of sin, and to give them new life. He indwells, teaches and empowers Christ’s followers to serve God. We also hold that all spiritual gifts and ministries spoken of in the Bible are still available to the church today.

Humanity: We believe all humanity has been created in God’s image, but we have fallen into sin, thus creating our deep need of salvation and being restored back to our Father.

Salvation: We believe that Christ’s death and resurrection provide the only grounds for our righteousness, salvation and reconciliation with God. All who believe upon Jesus Christ and turn from their life of sin are restored back to relationship with God as His children and have their sins completely forgiven.

Church: We believe that simply attending church gatherings or ‘going to church’ does not necessarily make one part of the church. Therefore, the true church consists of all people who have put their faith in Christ and follow Him as Master. Jesus Christ is Lord and Head of the church and it is God’s purpose that the worldwide church be unified by His Spirit. We also believe that it is good and right for local churches to be established and function healthily as part of the advance of God’s kingdom.

Baptism and Lord’s Supper: We believe water baptism and the Lord’s Supper are important aspects of the life of all believers. Yet, while they are ways in which we can participate in God’s grace, they are, however, not to be regarded as the means for salvation.

Return of Christ: We believe in a personal, physical return of our Lord Jesus Christ. We also believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead with believers being granted eternal joy and unbelievers given judgment.

In all, we appreciate this statement from the early church father, Augustine (354-430 AD): In essentials, unity. In non-essentials, liberty. In all things, love.
