Leadership

At Cornerstone, we believe the Scriptures show the importance of team leadership. The Bible refers to the leaders of a local church as elders (also known as overseers). The elders are called to lead, shepherd and oversee the local body.

Below is Cornerstone’s team of leaders:

Scott & Cat Lencke (elder-pastor) – Scott was raised in the Memphis, TN, area of the U.S. He came to Christ in January of 1997 while in his last year of high school. He holds a BA in Communications from the University of Memphis and an MA in Theological Studies from Covenant Theological Seminary, while also having the opportunity to study music  and ministry for two years at Visible Music College. He has had the opportunity of teaching in ministry colleges in both the US and UK, as well as travelling into other nations to teach and train. Scott also enjoys blogging at The Prodigal Thought. His wife, Catherine (though she goes by Cat), is a beautiful English rose with a smile that lights up his heart. They were married in December 2006 and they are best friends. Cat enjoys photography (see her website here) and secretly wants to be a home interior designer. They have two very young sons, Caleb and Joshua.

Ates & Tanja Erk (leadership team) - Ates and Tanja Erk are both from Germany, where they were raised, studied, got to know each other and finally married in 2002. They have two great sons who were born in 2007 and 2009. In the summer of 2010 they came to live in the Brussels area for work-related reasons. Specifically, Ates is a chemical engineer and works for a German chemical company. They enjoy living in Belgium as a family, which was greatly strengthened by connecting into the Cornerstone church community and developing relationships there. The Erk’s desire greatly to bless the people of Cornerstone and to grow together with the church in the love of Jesus.

Cornerstone also works closely with and is accountable to a team of leaders and churches from Global Horizons-Lifelink International.
